together 65 team members from 10 different countries.
Bird & Bird's firmly
established tax practice is looking to recruit a junior
associate with 1 to 3 years of experience in Brussels.
About the team
Our Brussels-based tax team
advises on all the full range of business-related tax matters, both
within Belgium and internationally, with a focus on specific
industries including Life Sciences, Media and Tech & Comms. The
Brussels team is particularly known for its expertise in IP, R&D
and innovation related tax matters.
Our team represents a variety of
clients, from SMEs to large multinationals. As a result, we
regularly advise on complex multi-jurisdictional matters. Our tax
team regularly works with colleagues around the world to advise
clients on all international aspects.
The tax disputes side of our
practice has grown significantly. In addition, a tax disputes
partner recently joined our team, expanding this part of our
practice even further.
In view of supporting both the tax
advisory and the tax disputes side of our practice, we are looking
to recruit two dynamic associates, with some initial experience and
interested in further developing our tax practice.
How will you make your mark
By providing advice and assistance
in the core areas of the practice:
R&D and innovation tax incentives;
Cross-border and domestic
royalty taxation matters, including copyright remuneration cases;
Crypto-currency related queries;
Non-profit related tax matters
(such VAT and permanent establishment queries);
Tax disputes and litigation,
mainly in respect of the above;
As well as general tax work in
collaboration with other departments, such as employee incentives,
M&A transactions, (aircraft and general) finance transactions,
general anti-abuse rule opinions for insurance transactions, …
You can count on the firm's

Provide legal services to a
variety of domestic and international, large and smaller clients

high-tech and regulated industries;
How to get your foot in the door
We are open to candidates who
will start their career in law after Summer or have upto three
years of relevant experience. To make it to the interview
stage, we are looking for someone with:
An excellent command of English
and French, both orally and in writing is essential, as well as a
good command of Dutch;
A strong academic background in
Belgium, an LL.M. in Tax law is an advantage;
Strong analytical, reasoning and
writing skills;
Committed to delivering
high-quality work; and
A good team player, fitting in
