Belgium introduces criminal sanctions for violation of REACH

On 1 June 2008, most provisions of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of 19 December 2006 concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) (the "Regulation") entered into effect. Thus, as from that date, companies manufacturing in or importing into the EEA (European Economic Area) one tonne or more of chemical substances per year have been obliged to register their substances. Unregistered substances are denied access to the market.

Ferrero Faces Price-Fixing Inquest

The report is the result of an investigation that began two years ago in Germany, where the competition authorities investigated the commercial behaviour of several chocolate and confectionery manufacturers, including Ferrero, Kraft, Nestlé and Mars. This triggered inquiries by Belgium's Competition Authority, including dawn raids at the Belgian head offices of seven chocolate and confectionery manufacturers in May 2008.

Cette réglementation s'applique également aux vols au départ d'un aéroport situé dans un pays tiers, sous réserve que le vol soit à destination de l'UE ou de la Suisse et exécuté par une compagnie aérienne européenne ou Suisse.
