Promotions and new hires at Crowell & Moring

Crowell & Moring has promoted five attorneys in its Brussels office. On January 1, 2020, Eric Montens (corporate & commercial, regulatory, dispute resolution) was promoted to the position of senior counsel, and Judith Bussé (IP/IT, dispute resolution, antitrust), Evelien Jamaels (labor & employment, global mobility – international employment), Evelina Roegiers (IP, regulatory, privacy & cybersecurity) and Marieke Van Nieuwenborgh (antitrust) were all promoted to the position of counsel. In addition, on February 3, 2020, Crowell & Moring hired Stefanie Tack as a new counsel in their labor & employment team. Stefanie joins us from ORYS attorneys, where she headed the employment law practice.

Eric Montens (corporate & commercial, regulatory, dispute resolution) focuses mainly on general commercial and product risk management matters. He assists national and international clients on a variety of issues concerning commercial distribution and related matters, such as franchise, selective distribution, agency, competition, licensing, and consumer protection & product recalls. He regularly litigates distribution matters before national courts and arbitration panels.

Judith Bussé (IP/IT, dispute resolution, antitrust) assists clients with practical and hands on advice for protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights in a variety of sectors, such as the fashion, food, IT and pharmaceutical sectors. As such, Judith is involved in a number of trademark and design right cases including litigation on the validity and infringement of a threedimensional trademark for beverages. She is also involved in litigation concerning a pharmaceutical color trademark in which moreover the abuse of dominance has been argued. Judith also advises and litigates in connection with patent and copyright infringement.

Evelien Jamaels (labor & employment, global mobility – international employment) focuses on individual and collective labor law. She assists both national and international companies with, for example, restructuring, closure of companies, termination of employment agreements, drafting and reviewing of employment agreements, work regulations and policies, drafting and negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements, and audits/due diligence for multinationals. BRACTIVE-4816865.1 Evelien has also gained particular experience in cross-border employment, including advice and assistance related to work and residency permit applications for non-EU workers in Belgium.

Evelina Roegiers (IP, regulatory, privacy & cybersecurity) focuses on privacy and data protection and intellectual property rights, and has substantial knowledge in pharma and medical devices regulatory matters. She regularly assists clients with launching their products in Belgium or Europe, drafts clinical trial agreements, advises on questions related to advertising of medicinal products or medical devices, and advises on the legal and regulatory framework applied to the contacts between the industry and the HCP. She has particular experience in data protection questions arising in the pharma and medical devices industries.

Marieke Van Nieuwenborgh (antitrust) handles a full range of EU and Belgian competition law issues including restrictive practices, merger control, state aid, and antitrust damages recovery. She assists clients in proceedings relating to actions for damages for competition law infringements and advises clients from the e-commerce sector on online sales and presence. She counsels national and international clients on cooperation, exclusivity and distribution agreements, across various industries, including the transport and telecom sector, and she represents clients before the Belgian competition authority and the EU Commission in merger proceedings and competition investigations.

Stefanie Tack (labor & employment, corporate & commercial) advises clients on all aspects of individual and collective labor law. Stefanie has particular experience in the retail, automotive, chemical and technology industries. She is known for her hands-on, practical approach, and provides tailor-made advice to her clients.
