Matters are moving forward at LDIA

Matters are moving forward very quickly at the Legal Diversity & Inclusion Alliance (LDIA). The LDIA already counts 40 members, and many law firms that are not located in Belgium are also showing their interest in becoming part of LDIA. LDIA is an alliance between competitor law firms which has decided to unify its forces to make the legal workplace more diverse and inclusive.

A Board of Directors has been created, which will be responsible for leading LDIA and overall coordination of LDIA’s activities. The members of the Board of Directors are Kathleen Van Nuffel from Steptoe, Els Lagasse from Van Bael & Bellis, Caroline Williams from Morrison Foerster, Valérie Packet from Clifford Chance and Saskia Van den Kerkhove from DLA Piper.

Newly created, the Board of Directors is working on the LDIA Code of Conduct. The code of conduct should be finalised very soon and presented to all LDIA members at the next internal meeting scheduled for 16 April 2019.

Many LDIA member law firms have shared pictures of their event organised around the International Women’s Day on the LDIA website. See more on the LDIA website which can be found here

LDIA is organising as a next event a panel discussion, with Open@work on 16 May 2019, inviting some very interesting speakers around the theme of LGBT+ people and their coming out in the workplace.

There are many more events to come, as LDIA works hard to make promises become reality and make a significant difference.
