Brussels Distribution Conference – 1rst Edition

The first edition of the Brussels Distribution Conference (BDC) took place last week and nearly 150 participants attended this event. Organised by the Belgian lawfirm DBB, member of the international network Lawrope , BDC has enabled the participants to take stock of the recent legal developments in commercial distribution, both under domestic and international aspects.

Pierre Demolin, partner at DBB and co-organizer of BDC welcomes " the success of this first initiative that reflects the economic vitality of the commercial distribution sector at European level." The conference addressed issues such as pre-contractual business information for the distributor, setting-up outlets, protection of know-how, international distribution contracts or new distribution channels via internet. During this event, the Federal Minister Sabine Laruelle intervened to clarify the status of various draft law amendments at the federal level. A book including the speakers' presentations will be available soon at Editions LARCIER.

During the closing cocktail reception, which took place on the terrace of the prestigious Palais des Académies, Benoit Simpeleare, partner at DBB and co-organizer of BDC thanked " all the speakers - academics, judges, lawyers and distribution's professionals- who contributed greatly to the high level of the discussions and debates during this two-days conference" and gave them appointments in two years for the second edition of BDC taking place on 16 and 17 October 2015.
