Les négociateurs européens et américains viennent d'arriver à un accord-cadre sur l'échange de données personnelles en matières judicaire et de police.  La période est symbolique puisqu'elle correspond à celle des attentats du 11 septembre.  Cet accord est le résultat de quatre ans de négociations difficiles.  Il constitue en outre une avancée gigantesque pour la reconstruction de la confiance entre l'Europe et les Etats-Unis, suite aux révélations d'Edward Snowden concernant notamment le programme de surveillance PRISM.

EU & US launch negotiations for transatlantic and trade investment partnership

On 12 March 2013 the Commission decided to request the Member States' green light to open negotiations for Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the United States (TTIP) and released an impact assessment of the future of the EU-US trade relations.

The transatlantic trade relation is the backbone of the world economy. Together, the European Union and the United States account for about half of the world GDP (47%) and one third of global trade flows. Each day goods and services of almost € 2 billion are traded bilaterally, contributing to creating jobs and growth in both economies.

International Court of Justice gives Judgment on State Immunity

On February 3, 2012, the International Court of Justice delivered its judgment in proceedings instituted by Germany against Italy for alleged violations of the jurisdictional immunities enjoyed by States under public international law. The Court held that Italy committed several breaches of Germany's State immunity.

Today, the World Trade Organization ("WTO") issued a Panel Report strongly condemning one of the main pillars of the EU's anti-dumping policy against China. If confirmed on appeal, the EU will be forced to amend its basic anti-dumping legislation. The EU may also need to re-examine most of the current anti-dumping measures against imports from China.

The European Union has announced that it will comply with a landmark World Trade Organisation (WTO) ruling which condemned EU customs tariffs on high-tech products imported into its 27 member states. Further to the European Union's decision not to appeal the ruling, the WTO Dispute Settlement Body adopted the final report issued by a WTO panel on September 21 2010.
