New Counsel at Loyens & Loeff

Loyens & Loeff’s Commercial Contracts, IP/IT and Data Protection & Privacy practice reinforced with the appointment of Stéphanie De Smedt as Counsel

Stéphanie De Smedt has been appointed as counsel at Loyens & Loeff in Belgium with effect from1 January 2021.

Stéphanie is a valuable member of the Loyens & Loeff Litigation & Risk Management Practice Group. She is the Belgian team leader of the IP/ IT and Data Protection & Privacy practice for Belgium and co-heads the Belgian Healthcare & Life Sciences Team. For the past years, she has been building impressive expertise in commercial law, IP / IT law, and privacy & data protection.

In addition to her general commercial and IP law background, Stéphanie has a strong focus on privacy & data protection and on regulatory matters. She acts as third-party decider with CEPINA, the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, to deal with domain name dispute resolution and is a Teaching Assistant at the Centre for IP and ICT law of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Finally, Stéphanie is ranked by Legal 500 as “Rising Star” in Data Protection & Privacy. She is the author of numerous publications in the fields of IP and data protection.
