Paul Van Hooghten joins Jones Day

The global law firm Jones Day announces that Paul Van Hooghten has joined the Firm's Mergers & Acquisitions Practice as of counsel. Mr. Van Hooghten is based in Jones Day's Brussels Office.

Mr. Van Hooghten has more than 30 years' experience advising on international and domestic public and private M&A transactions,  joint ventures, private equity, takeover bids, equity offerings, and general corporate law. In particular, his practice has covered a number of Belgian and international companies, private equity houses, and financial institutions, including the European subsidiaries of various NYSE-listed companies. He has represented clients in a wide variety of sectors including automotive, technology, financial, and pharmaceuticals. As a Belgian lawyer who practiced for several years in New York, he is ideally placed to assist clients in complex cross-border transactions.

Mr. Van Hooghten has consistently been named as a Belgian "Leading Individual" in the field of Corporate M&A in Chambers Global and a leading lawyer in Who's Who Legal, Legal Experts, and the IFLR Guide to the World's Leading M&A Lawyers. He was previously a director and officer at the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium.

Mr. Van Hooghten is the author of several publications on corporate and commercial law including, The European Takeover Directive and Its Implementation, published by Oxford University Press. He is a regular speaker at legal and professional conferences and a guest lecturer at the University of Brussels.
