Laga welcomes 2 new partners to its EU & Competition practice

Laga, one of Belgium’s leading law firms, announced the addition of Wim Vandenberghe and Hendrik Viaene as new partners. The well-known and respected lawyers will help establish Laga’s EU competence centre. Hendrik Viaene is an expert in competition law and state aid law. Mr. Vandenberghe is known for his expertise in EU product regulation law.

Prior to joining Laga, Mr. Viaene was a partner competition law at Stibbe. He has extensive experience in all aspects of European and Belgian competition law and advising clients on structuring acquisitions, joint ventures and other types of collaboration agreements. Moreover, he is a recognised state aid specialist and has also been active in matters relating to European sanction regimes and to free movement of goods, services, persons and capital. Mr. Viaene is also a member of the editorial staff of the Tijdschrift voor Belgische Mededinging / Revue de la Concurrence Belge.

Mr. Vandenberghe comes to Laga with over 14 years of experience in EU regulations. Prior to joining Laga, he was a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, where he advised clients on he (EU) regulations compliance (e.g. licenses, packaging, market access, goods flows, ...) during the entire life cycle of their products / services, and in particular in the life sciences, energy and digital economy sectors.

A visiting lecturer at King’s College London in the UK, Mr. Vandenberghe teaches energy regulations and contracts to Competition Law and Regulated Network Industries master’s students.
