AMBOS NBGO welcomes a new top partner in labor and employment law

AMBOS NBGO is pleased to announce the arrival of Damien Stas de Richelle, who joins the firm as a partner in the Brussels office.

AMBOS is a leading Belgian law firm with offices in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent and Zeebrugge. Damien will head the firm's employment law department, and, together with Carl Bevernage, will oversee the further expansion of the firm's rapidly growing employment practice.

Damien's arrival responds to the increased demand of the firm's clients for employment law advice, in particular concerning the news rules treating blue and white collar workers equally in the case of redundancy; the impact of ongoing reorganizations caused by the financial challenges we face, enhanced employee mobility, in- and outsourcing, and the numerous other challenges employers and employees face in Belgium.

Damien has more than twenty years employment law experience, with a focus on collective employment regulations, corporate restructurings, and resolving labor conflicts, including assisting management in consulting with the unions and representatives of personnel in the Works Council. In addition to his private sector practice, Damien also has specific expertise in advising the public sector.

In welcoming Damien to the firm, Kurt Faes, Managing Partner of AMBOS NBGO, said: "Damien fits perfectly in the culture of the firm and our focus on an ever more personalized service matching the expectations of our clients, in particular the demand for expert assistance in the complex growth area of human resources. Damien supports the firm's values and its goal to provide clear, succinct legal solutions on time and on budget."

Damien built his employment law practice as an associate and later a partner in an Anglo-Saxon law firm where he advised Belgian and multinational companies in employment matters, including contentious and non-contentious matters. Damien is fully trilingual and advises and pleads in French, Dutch and English. He publishes extensively on employment-related matters, and is a featured speaker in Belgium and internationally.

In announcing his decision to join the firm, Damien Stas de Richelle said:
"AMBOS NBGO is the kind of law firm I admire, where partners and associates work together to solve their clients' problems and where entrepreneurship is rewarded. They work hard in a simple, open and collegial atmosphere. I'm not surprised that the firm's client base has grown so rapidly, and that both start ups and well established Belgian and international corporations increasingly call upon AMBOS NBGO for their legal needs. I think the firm's success lies in the fact that it takes the time to understand the market and the segment in which its clients operate, and of course by offering world class legal advice. I am delighted to be a part of the firm, and I look forward to working with my new partners to make it an even bigger success than it already is."
