Baker & McKenzie Elects New Executive Committee Members

Baker & McKenzie has elected Beatriz Pessoa de Araujo (London), Raymundo Enriquez (Mexico City) and Koen Vanhaerents (Brussels) to its Executive Committee. They will work closely with Chairman John Conroy and four other Executive Committee members in managing the Firm’s worldwide operations. Araujo, Enriquez and Vanhaerents succeed Rafael Jimenez-Gusi (Barcelona), Roberto Mendoza (Caracas) and Eric Lasry (Paris), who will return to full-time practice with the Firm now that their terms have ended.

They have been exceptional contributors to the success of the Firm, and we are confident that their impressive experiences and leadership skills will continue to advance our Firm Strategy,” said John Conroy, Baker & McKenzie’s Chairman of the Executive Committee.
 
“Rafa, Roberto and Eric have been outstanding leaders especially in a rapidly changing world. They have demonstrated a strong resolve and never lost sight of our strategic objectives and what we must do to achieve them. For this, we are very grateful,” Conroy added.
 
Beatriz Pessoa de Araujo
Araujo is a corporate Partner in London. A fluent English, French, Spanish and Portuguese speaker, she focuses on global compliance issues and, after five years, recently stepped down as a member of the London office Management Committee. Araujo joined the Firm in 1985.
 
Raymundo Enriquez
Enriquez was recently the Managing Partner of the Firm’s Mexico offices. He focuses on tax and antitrust and unfair trade practices. Enriquez joined the Firm’s Mexico City office in 1988.
 
Koen Vanhaerents
Vanhaerents is a corporate Partner in Brussels and served as Chairman of the Policy Committee from 2005-2008. He was recently the co-Managing Partner of Baker & McKenzie Belgium. Vanhaerents joined the Firm in 1987.
 
Baker & McKenzie’s Executive Committee is the leadership body of the Firm.  Its responsibilities include: developing and executing the Firm’s Strategy; client development and service; practice development; financial performance of the Firm; quality maintenance and improvement; external relations, marketing and communications strategy; and Partner relations.
 
Other members of the Committee include Peter Engstrom (San Francisco), Alan Harvey (Dallas), Jeremy Pitts (Tokyo) and Poh Lee Tan (Hong Kong).
