On 3 December 2021, the Law of 25 November 2021 regarding the tax and social “greenification” of mobility was published in the Belgian Official Gazette. This law introduces a number of measures aimed at reforming the tax and social security regime of company cars with a view to fostering greener mobility. Wage increase margin 2021-2022 and pension harmonisation. Two summer measures that (almost) went unnoticed

The summer of 2021 has proved exceptional in that it produced a surfeit of employment-related measures. A Royal Decree of 30 July 2021 set the maximum margin for salary cost increases for the period 2021-2022 at 0.4%. Two weeks earlier, employer and employee representative organisations within the National Labour Council entered into no fewer than 10 collective bargaining agreements, covering such topics as temporary unemployment, unemployment with company benefits (so-called “bridging pension”) and supplementary pensions.
Back to (remote) work: new rules for Belgian employers as from September 2021

After 1.5 year of teleworking, the Belgian Coordination Committee (coordination body composed of Federal, regional and community ministers) decided to lift the recommendation to work from home as of 1 September 2021. As a result, many employees are now gradually returning to the office, often on a part-time basis.
