As a 360° player in the offshore wind industry, our client, Parkwind, is one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of developing, financing, constructing and operating offshore wind farms.  

Today the company operates 552MW in the Belgian territorial waters (Belwind, Northwind and Nobelwind) and has a pipeline of 800MW offshore in Belgium (Northwester 2), Ireland (Oriel) and Germany (Arcadis Ost). Meanwhile Parkwind continues to grow and explore further opportunities on an international level. 

The current shareholders of Parkwind are Colruyt Group, Korys NV (the investment holding of the Colruyt family) and the Flemish investment fund PMV.  

For the reinforcement of the legal team based in Leuven, Parkwind is currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with a solid background in transactions, preferably in (renewable) energy (acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, etc). Knowledge of and experience in corporate law, project finance, energy law and/or (international) contract law (FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO,…) is valuable as well.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, your main focus lies on enabling new or existing partnerships from a legal point of view, while providing support on project finance, corporate or contract matters to the wider Parkwind organisation. You will mainly work in an environment of (international) project development relying on project financing. 

Your role:

  • Analyzing and setting up of various shareholder and partnership agreements with developers, investors or key suppliers, necessary to develop the wind turbine projects
  • Participating in and leading of negotiations of such agreements
  • You are responsible for the follow-up and coordination of the legal aspects of the cases under your responsibility
  • You will advise and support the projects on shareholder, corporate and contract matters throughout the life time of the project
  • You will manage and maintain relationships with the relevant shareholders of the project, for instance investors and external advisors. 
  • You will be part of an international team and will report directly to the General Counsel.

  • You have a master’s degree in law
  • You have at least 5 to 7 years of hands on experience in M&A, joint ventures, etc. and corresponding negotiation processes, preferably in the energy sector 
  • Experience as an M&A lawyer is considered as a plus
  • You have experience/interest in energy law, corporate law, contracting and project finance
  • You are proficient in Dutch, French and English with an excellent knowledge of project related vocabulary and drafting capabilities in English
  • You are a born negotiator, and you have a problem-solving work approach
  • You are flexible and willing to travel on an occasional basis
  • You are result-oriented and capable of managing cases independently
  • You have an analytical mindset and can communicate advises and ideas in a correct manner, with respect for the business reality
  • You have good social skills and can work efficiently in a team 
  • You contribute to the development of other team members
  • You are punctual and precise while giving advice and while administering your cases and contracts.
