VNE is part of the Veepee group, a major player in the field of e-commerce in Europe, with headquarters in Paris. Within the group, VNE is responsible for the Benelux region, with commercial activities in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

To support its activities in the Benelux region (with a focus on Belgium), Veepee is currently looking for a Legal Counsel (m/f/x).

As a legal counsel you will join the Group’s International Legal Department, covering legal support to the Veepee’s activities outside of France (Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Brazil).

You will act as a sole legal counsel in the Benelux region, reporting to the Group’s International Legal Director.

You will provide proactive, in-depth, legal, business-focused advice on all areas of law that affect the business, and more specifically on the following matters:

  • Commercial contracts (negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts with customers and suppliers, logistics-, distribution-, collaboration agreements, etc.);
  • Consumer-, advertising- and marketing law;
  • Electronic commerce and New Technologies;
  • Competition and distribution law;
  • IP/ IT and data protection
  • Corporate law

You will analyse and identify the legal risks and implications of all of the business’s transactions, keeping the management informed of developments in laws and regulations that potentially affect the business. You will also be in charge of the implementation of processes to ensure mitigation of legal exposure and risks and you will oversee the delivery of training to management and personnel on legal issues affecting individual departmental activities and transactions.

You will also follow-up and answer to possible claims and legal procedures.

You have a Belgian Master degree in Law.  

You have around 5 years of relevant working experience in the field of consumer- and commercial law, ideally acquired both in a law firm and also as an in-house legal counsel (preferably in the e-commerce or FMCG sector). Expertise in data protection law will be a valuable asset. Working experience in The Netherlands is also a plus.

You are fluent in English, Dutch and French.

You have strong communication skills. You use a clear and simple communication of legal instructions and information down to your business peers without a legal background and you have excellent legal communication skills in drafting high-value legal documentation.

You are a true business partner, able to understand the business and the risks derived from it.

You are a problem solver and you are results driven.

You can work autonomously but you also have the ability to work in a team.

You are transparent and you have good negotiation and conflict management skills, able to influence others.

You are self-confident and assertive, with critical judgment, but respecting the positions of others.
