To reinforce its legal team, our client is looking for a Compliance Counsel.

As a Compliance Counsel, you will:

  • Gain insight in Greenyard’s operations with a view to identifying compliance risks and advising the business on how to manage/mitigate such risks;
  • Develop and implement company policies and regulations (o.a. regarding antibribery, whistle blowing, prevention of trade sanctions).
  • Oversee all business operations relating to compliance, identify potential regulatory hurdles and come up with effective solutions.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures and reports and adjust if necessary.
  • Provide legal advice (by screening, analysing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating various kinds of commercial contracts) and guidance regarding the business activities and projects.
  • Develop a “legal reflex” of the business by organizing a.o. legal trainings (a.o. competition & antitrust, code of conduct, whistleblowing, GDPR, anticorruption, dawn raids, trade sanctions, etc.) or providing legal tools (such as legal checklists, model contracts, etc.) in order to help the business to work autonomously.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Educational Background/Working Experience: you have a master degree in Law with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in competition law and compliance. You have solid international experience as lawyer and/or in-house legal counsel in a multinational company. Experience in general business law is an asset.
  • Language Skills: you have excellent command of Dutch and English. Additional language capability in German, Spanish or French is a plus.
  • You display excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop trusting relationships internally and externally.
  • You demonstrate analytical/reasoning, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • You demonstrate strong policy, process and project management skills.
  • You are able to develop content and deliver quality training & education programs.
  • You can prepare and deliver clear written and oral communications appropriate for multiple audiences and levels within the organization.
  • You are able to partner with the business to establish a common vision to enhance business compliance.
  • Working with others: you work as an effective and productive member of the team; acknowledge conflict and resolve interpersonal issues; respect other opinions and provide and share information; use informal relationships for support and as a resource; operate well within cross-functional disciplines.
  • Openness to new ideas & embracing change: you demonstrate openness to new ideas; adapt to and support change; come up with useful ideas.
