Description of the vacancy

As a Legal Manager at Decathlon, you will lead Decathlon’s legal team and act as a strategic partner for the different business departments.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Identify Decathlon’s legal needs and risks and advise management in the decisionmaking process.
  • Organize and distribute legal work within the team and handle complex cases.
  • Train and motivate the legal team through appropriate empowerment.
  • Analyze the legal framework and organize appropriate training courses.
  • Draft standard agreements and ensure their adaptation.
  • Handle a variety of legal issues and disputes in collaboration with external lawyers.
  • Participate in negotiations and intervene in company "projects" for legal aspects.
  • Monitor regulatory developments to ensure compliance with the law and the implementation of an adapted compliance program (GDPR, business ethics, human rights, greenwashing, ...).
  • Promote Decathlon’s business and interest

Profile

Decathlon is looking for a legal leader, a strategic player and business driver, who wants to create sustainable value.

Some of the required skills are:

  • Master’s degree in law
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience, preferably at an renewed law firm and/or in-house.
  • Strong managerial skills in order to lead the legal team.
  • Generalist legal expertise (interest in commercial law, corporate law, compliance, employment law, data privacy and real estate law).
  • Proficient in drafting legal and commercial documents, with the ability to negotiate with commercially and legally sophisticated advisors.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent (both written as orally) in Dutch and French with excellent command of English.
  • Enthusiastic and committed team player who can challenge other team members and work collaboratively in a dynamic and skilled work environment.
