Leading international law firm Clifford Chance today announces the promotion of Milena Robotham and Patrice Viaene in Belgium.
Milena Robotham specialises in European competition law and has broad experience representing companies in proceedings before the European Commission. She advises a range of corporate clients, including in contentious behavioural matters, complex merger control cases and advisory and compliance matters, with particular expertise in technology and energy markets.
Milena has experience advising on high-profile cases both from the in-house and outside counsel perspective. Notable matters include advising various parties in the EU abuse of dominance investigation of Google's practices in Search and Android, as well as advising a party in respect of the first European Commission investigation regarding the use of injunctions based on standard-essential patents (SEPs).
Patrice Viaene is a corporate Partner. His experience extends across international and domestic M&A, energy, construction and large infrastructure projects as well as assisting entrepreneurs and venture capital investors in the tech sector. Patrice is a long-standing M&A adviser to Kingspan, the Ireland based global leader in advanced insulation and building envelope solutions, leading the team on key transactions in Belgium, France, Denmark and The Netherlands. He also recently advised Deliverect, a Belgium-based tech scale-up on its Series D financing round, bringing the company to a post-money valuation of over EUR 1 billion, making it a unicorn.
Patrice also has expertise in the renewable energy sector and is a leading member of the firm's global Clean Hydrogen Taskforce. He recently advised Elia on the construction of the world's first artificial renewable energy island, to be located in Belgian's second offshore wind energy zone in the North Sea.
