Functie :
• Ensure adherence to Schindler standards on local compliance with laws and regulations
• Coordinate and supervise handling of major legal cases by external counsels
• Provide legal assistance in major contract negotiations with clients and suppliers (Schindler legal review of contracts process) and provide post signature legal support is case of disputes (variations, change orders, penalties, liquidated damages etc.)
• Advise on matters of civil responsibility and civil litigation
• Provide legal advice on criminal law and administrative law, including competition law, construction law, health and safety law, environmental law etc.
• Advise on IP matters (protection of Schindler proprietary rights against infringements)
• Train local management in areas of key legal risk, conduct and support compliance training within the organisation
• Local implementation of Corporate compliance initiatives
• First contact for compliance issues, participation in code of conduct audits
• Coordinate legal and compliance affairs with Regional Counsel Europe
Gezocht profiel :
• University degree in law and bar exam
• Good comprehensive knowledge of commercial law in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg
• Contract law (ideally in construction industry or real estate services) and in EU competition law is an asset
• Fluent Dutch, French and English
• 5+ years practical experience, ideally as an in-house lawyer in a multinational company or as a commercial attorney in an international law firm
• Practical experience in compliance (i.e. code of conduct, etc.)
• Strong business understanding
• Analytical and conceptual thinking
• Pro-active and effective approach, well-structured personality with strength of character
• Excellent communicator & team player, skilled and credible negotiator
• Customer orientation
• Entrepreneurial attitude, hands-on and result-oriented worker
• Readiness to travel within the Benelux regularly, occasionally within Europe
