Dynamic Legal Counsel with at least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial law. Excellent command of Dutch, English and French.

The company manufactures and distributes products under its own brands Samsonite and American Tourister.
The group’s worldwide headquarters are in Mansfield, Massachusetts (US). Its European Headquarters are in Oudenaarde (Belgium), where it also has important production facilities.
The company now seeks to hire a Legal Counsel for its European division, to strengthen the in-house legal department that presently consists of the regional General Counsel, a Legal Counsel and two support staff.
Fonction :
As a Legal Counsel you will draft and/or review a wide range of commercial contracts, such as agency agreements, intra-group agreements, general terms and conditions (sales and purchase), distribution agreements, commercial lease agreements, supplier agreements, IT agreements, …
Other key responsibilities will include:
- internal legal support on various topics including commercial and trade practices;
- ad hoc legal research;
You will maintain contacts with various departments within Samsonite and you will report to the General Counsel (responsible for Europe, the Middle East and Africa).
Profil recherché :
You hold a Master degree in Law (Belgian qualified) and have at least 5 years of relevant experience, gained ideally as an in-house counsel within an international group.
You have outstanding drafting skills, especially in English.
You have strong analytical skills and are very precise in your work. You take pride in drafting documents and contracts to a very high standard and you aim to offering solutions, which not only reflect the legal context, but are also feasible from a commercial perspective.
In your contacts you are an excellent communicator, able to translate complex legal matters into understandable and practical advice. You are hands-on and very business-minded.
You are fluent in English and French. Knowledge of German is a definite plus.
