Following an internal move of the present Legal Counsel, our client now wishes to hire a replacement to assist in providing the necessary legal support to its business, primarily in a commercial role, for subsidiaries based mainly in the Benelux region.
Fonction :
As legal counsel, you will be responsible to provide legal advice to the Belgian manufacturing plant of our client, under the supervision of the Corporate Counsel who heads the office, and you will act as the lead lawyer for the Dutch manufacturing facility, for all types of commercial and corporate matters.
The Belgian subsidiary is one of the larger manufacturing sites of the group with a staff of about 4000 employees, whereas the Dutch subsidiary is engaged in both manufacturing and sales and has a staff of about 200.
To operate effectively, you will work with all business partners, including purchasing, human resources, finance, etc...
Your responsibilities will include:
- review and negotiation support for a wide range of contracts (mainly in cooperation with the purchasing department)
- managing the ongoing litigations and instruct outside counsel
- handle commercial litigation/contentious matters with suppliers
- handling local corporate, regulatory and environmental law matters
- assist in counselling management occasionally on labour law issues
- act as the point of contact and lead lawyer for all legal matters regarding the Dutch subsidiary
- give basic law trainings to clients
- review and improve internal work processes
You will be required to travel occasionally to the Dutch subsidiary and other destinations in Europe or the US. Your permanent office will be located in Belgium.
Profil recherché :
You are a Belgian trained lawyer with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Ideally, you are a company lawyer or you have gained (predominantly) commercial experience at a respected law firm, possibly in combination with some in-house experience. This in-house experience could also be gained through project work or secondment to a company. An additional experience in labour law or environmental law is desired.
You are fluent in French and English and have a good knowledge of Dutch.
You are a team player and you communicate very easily and efficiently with your colleagues and clients, yet you are able to work independently and duly manage your workload and priorities. You have excellent analytical skills and written communication is one of your strong point. A good IT knowledge is appreciated.
