Our client M7 Group SA was established in October 2009 in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and is the European Provider of Satellite Services for consumers and business customers. M7 Group operates the following brands: CanalDigitaal in the Netherlands, TV Vlaanderen in Flanders and TéléSAT in French speaking Belgium. Later this year M7 Group SA will also launch a new Platform in Luxembourg named TéléSAT Luxembourg. All brands offer tailor made packages for clients adapted to the local culture and language in these countries. Today M7 Group SA has more than 1 million viewers who use a small Satellite dish to receive hundreds of Digital National and International TV and Radio Channels.
For its offices in Luxemburg, M7 Group is currently looking for a (m/f) Legal Counsel.
Fonction :
You are responsible for the general legal support within M7 Group. You report to the CEO and the Board of Directors of the group. You are in permanent interaction with the internal business partners - mainly the top management of the group, sales and marketing - and with external contacts, such as program providers, broadcasting companies, regulatory bodies etc…
You provide analysis and counsel on legal, policy and business issues. You do more in particular:
• pro-actively manage and assist on a day to day basis the negotiating, drafting and/or review of a wide variety of complex commercial contracts (content agreements, distribution contracts, partnership and licensing agreements, etc.);
• manage corporate and governance issues, communicate with directors and overlook overall corporate housekeeping activities pertaining to the company’s legal structure;
• pro-actively anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company; you will train business people and ensure compliance and appropriate risk assessment on a day to day basis;
• pro-actively participate to contacts and discussions with the governmental and non governmental bodies, regulating the media sector;
• manage overall legal advise in most different legal areas, such as intellectual property, consumer law, e-commerce & internet law, trade practices, data protection; European law;
• manage litigation and the contacts with outside counsel.
Profil recherché :
• Master in law from a European university;
• at least 5 years experience in a general business law practice at the bar or in a company;
• you have already gained some experience in or with the media/broadcasting sector; experience in or with the telecom or internet sector could also be considered;
• fluency in English, French and Dutch; knowledge of German is a strong plus;
• you have a good knowledge of general business law and handling and negotiating commercial contracts, experience in intellectual property and media law is a strong asset;
• you are a strong communicator and you do not fear strong business involvement;
• you are capable of working independently, be decisive and deliver results in a pragmatic, efficient and timely manner;
• you have strong analytical and organizational skills;
• you are open minded, a good listener and easily approachable, appreciative of cultural differences and able to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside of the company;
• you are willing to work and live in Luxembourg.
