Fonction :

As a member of the Legal Division of the group holding company and in particular as a member of the ESES Operations Lawyers team, you will provide legal support to the ESES entities (Euroclear Belgium, Euroclear France and Euroclear Nederland). Under the supervision of a senior lawyer, your main responsibilities will be to handle legal issues related to the operations of ESES (e.g. support for settlement activities, custody activities, acceptance of new securities), support in general contractual matters and matters of general company law. You will also have the opportunity to participate in certain Euroclear group projects involving the foregoing subsidiaries.

Your Role:
Your main responsibilities will include:

• Learning the business and its legal framework to advise (internal) clients and management
• Drafting and negotiating contracts with service providers, counterparts and clients
• Documenting the services offered by the ESES entities
• Providing assistance and legal support for major projects of the Euroclear Group and other new services for the ESES entities
• Cooperating with the lawyers of the Legal Division within all entities of the Euroclear Group
• Participating in the legal training (risk awareness) of relevant staff/departments
• Maintaining knowledge of ongoing developments in the market place such as dematerialisation, harmonisation, EU initiatives, etc.
• Identifying new and updated regulatory requirements

Profil recherché :

• You hold a law degree from a Belgian university
• You have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Belgian capital market work or similar relevant experience (i.e. experience in securities issuance, settlement or custody business) preferably gained in the in-house legal division of a bank, broker or other financial institution
• You have a good knowledge of Belgian law and/or market practices in the financial world
• You are an excellent communicator, ability to integrate in a team
• You are an analytical thinker and pragmatic
• You are risk aware and capable of taking initiatives
• You show flexibility and are proactive
• You are fluent in English and Dutch and/or French
