New board and and agenda for the European Law Students Association (ELSA)-Belgium

The European Law Students' Association or ELSA is a non-political, non-profit-making, independent association of law students and young lawyers based in 41 countries at over 360 universities. It is the largest law students' organization and consists of 40, 000 members. As an NGO, ELSA has consultative status with UN ECOSOC and UNESCO, cooperation with UNICITRAL and participatory status with the Council of Europe.

As a part of this international European Law Students' Association, ELSA Belgium has been providing unique opportunities to Belgian law students since 1988. Among others, those opportunities include internships abroad, summer schools, moot courts, job fairs and legal workshops and conferences.

The first of July marked the start of the term of ELSA Belgium's new national board for academic year 2014-2015. The new 6 members will be coordinating the work of the five existing local groups in Belgium (ULB, VUB, KUL, UCL and UA) and prepare the founding of a new ELSA Local Group at the Université de Liège. In addition, ELSA Belgium will organize a legal essay competition, a charity cocktail, legal English, French and Dutch bootcamps and a national moot court competition.

All presidential duties will be handled by Stephaan Cloet and Nadia Tjahja will be assisting him by taking up the Secretary General position. As VP Marketing, Robert Invijajev will be in charge of publishing ELSA Belgium's Newsletter, « Synopsis » and developing a mobile application. VP Academic Activities Rossana Amoruso will guarantee an excellent of the yearly organized national moot court competition and as VP Seminars and Conferences Mia Nzembele will manage the charity cocktail and langauage bootcamps. Last but not least, VP STEP (Student Trainee Exchange Programme) Alejandro Blondeel will be coordinating the STEP-programme.
